If you’re think of booking this boat do it! We had the best weekend. The boat was perfect with everything you need on it. Gareth was lovely, showed us everything we need to know. You honestly won’t regret booking this trip
Very nice communication and great welcome, comfy place, I will come again in the summer !
Myself and partner had such an enjoyable couple of nights in this adorable little boat, it was so cosy and we felt right at home! We definitely recommend if you're looking for some nice, relaxing time away!
It was a great pleasure and experience to stay on Corinne & Gareth's boat!
Just back from the most amazing canal boat holiday on the Grand Union Canal to celebrate my husband’s birthday! It was our very first time, and Corinne & Gareth were so friendly, informative, and professional Their training and clear instructions made it all feel easy. Our boat Mini Escape had everything we needed and more.We absolutely loved the slower pace, the beautiful nature, and the sense of peace and gratitude it brought. Already hooked on canal boating ,can’t wait to do it again!
We had the most wonderful autumn weekend on the mini escape and cannot wait to book to go again next year. Everything was well explained, clean, comfortable and easy to navigate. Everyone we encountered on the canal was friendly, and we only wish we had more time to spend!
We booked last year, but it was well worth the wait. Plenty of communication from the owners leading up to the hire, with information to research the trip, and guidance for first timers, and water safety. On the day we were greeted warmly, and given a thorough tour of the barge and how to operate everything. A lot to take in, but there is a handy folder to refer back to. Storage onboard is limited, but we had room for both wet weather clothing and the hot sunny spells. There was a good sized fridge and cooker for a small boat. The shower is quite small, so maybe wouldn't suit larger folk. However, with a bit of research and planning you can probably berth near shore facilities. There was only USB charging onboard, no 240V ability. Being a small barge it was very easy to handle, both under power and manually from the bank/lockside using the ropes. The only problems steering wise were from the high gusts of wind and some overflow wash from some locks, meaning we had to turn round and reapproach the lock or the berth. No problems finding somewhere to berth up for the night, and only once we we more than a few minutes away from a pub/restaurant/town, and that was by choice. We didn't have to top up with fresh water, or empty the loo as we used pub facilities where possible. We had plenty of friendly assistance with the locks from volunteers and passers by. They are manageable, but hard to do several on your own. It is wise to check out the dining times/days of any pubs/restaurants you wish to plan into your trip, as we found some only do food some days of the week. The whole thing is a slow, leisurely experience, well worth trying.
We were totally new to the whole life on the canal but after a day of chugging along at our own pace we were hooked. The welcome was warm and the tuition was spot on.Thank you for a great experience,we are already looking into next year and our next journey.
What a perfect little boat for 2! Gareth and Corinne have thought of everything you need, including some basics like sauce, tea/coffee/cooking oil etc so you just turn up and go after some excellent tuition from Gareth. Gareth was also knowledgeable about nice little pubs along the way!
My wife and I had a lovely mid September weekend on the Mini Escape , had a great weekend. The two berth barge nicely fitted out and ample for a few days For people not used to barging this vessel would be a good introduction to get a feel of what the canals are about Garth made us very welcome. Thanks Garth !! If the weather turns cold don’t worry the wood burner works a charm Toasty warm Hope you have as much fun out there as what we did …. Go for it !!!
